Dominique Strauss-Kahn believed he was the target of a Russian plot to have him fired as boss of the International Monetary Fund, it was revealed today.

The 62-year-old Frenchman, now facing charges of trying to rape a hotel maid, accused France and Russia of hatching the scheme to stop him running for the French presidency.

Fellow French socialist politician Claude Bartolone said Strauss-Kahn made the claim to him last month, and said Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin was behind the conspiracy.

Hombre, yo si fuera ruso le tendría ganas a él y a cualquier dirigente del FMI. Pero también si fuera argentino, venezolano, boliviano, ucraniano, checo, polaco, irlandés, griego, indio, portugués... Si es por móvil, los sospechosos pueden ser varios miles de millones de personas de todo el mundo.

Ahora bien, si lo que intentaban era difamar a Putin, yo creo que le han dejado como un Paladín de la Justicia.
